About Me

So who am I and what can I offer you, you ask?  Well, let me tell you about me.

I am married with 2 grown sons and a dog.  I am a Systems Administrator at a major hospital here in Massachusetts.  I found my way there through different twists and turns in my career.  I started as an X-ray Technologist.  I lost my mother to Breast Cancer and found my career leading into Mammography.  I became the manager of a fairly large Breast Center, but found myself getting burnt out even though I felt very passionate about what I was doing.  I then became the Radiology Systems Administrator because I wanted to learn and grow.  What is this?  Well, when you go and have an x-ray now, it is all digital.  All of the systems in the background that get that digital image from the x-ray machine to the radiologist to read it or to your physician to look at it is what I take care of.  It’s fun and exciting and I enjoy it, but I am not passionate about it.  I found another job which I thought would provide me with more challenges and enjoyment.  I worked at this new job for 3 years, and all it gave me was long work hours, headaches, weight gain and disappointment.

To try to counteract this, I started to look into myself and find out what I was really passionate about.  It was healthy eating.  Now I am not perfect, but I have been striving since my children were babies to give them the best foods they could eat.  So, I started to find out how I could do something within the Nutrition field that would lead me out of the disappointing job I was in.  I found the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN).  I learned more about how I eat and what I eat.  I learned that all of my negativity was affecting my health.  I learned that spirituality doesn’t just mean a structured religion.  I changed my behavior and attitude and lost 17 pounds.

I then realized that by changing what I eat and my lifestyle, I can also heal my thyroid.  See, about 20 years ago, I was diagnosed as hypothyroid and have Hashimoto’s disease.  Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune disorder where your immune system essentially creates antibodies to kill your thyroid.  I was taught that my thyroid is essentially dead, and I was put on medications – Cytomel and Synthroid.  However, after going through school, I now understand how what you eat, can affect everything in your body, and it can heal itself.  I am making constant changes in my diet – read my blog posts to follow my thyroid journey.

So, what can I do for you – I can help you make a change – small changes every day. I can help you to reach your goal.  Not by crash dieting and making overwhelming changes that you find that you cannot stick with.  One small change each day, one success each day, will lead to big changes overall.

Work with me and I will help you just like I helped myself.
